Spend your summer working outside
and helping the environment as a member of a local Youth
Conservation Corps!
A Youth Conservation Corps (YCC) is a group
of high school students, led by a crew leader and technical
director who install conservation practices to help improve water
quality. Those receiving the services of the YCC (landowners,
municipalities, businesses, etc.) provide necessary materials, and
the YCC provides labor for free. All YCC work is done by hand,
without the assistance of machinery.
In 2008 there will be four crews
working in the following watersheds:

Little Sebago,
Forest and Highland Lakes
(Falmouth, Cumberland, Gray, Windham)

Long and Sebago
Lakes
(Bridgton, Casco, Harrison, Naples, Sebago, Standish)
-
Presumpscot River
(Greater Portland area - Cumberland, Falmouth, Gorham, Gray,
Portland, Windham, Westbrook)
-
Royal River
(Auburn, Brunswick, Cumberland, Durham, Gray, Freeport, New Gloucester, North
Yarmouth, Poland, Pownal, Raymond, Yarmouth)
Crew Member
Qualifications:
-
Ability to engage
in strenuous, physical work

Interest in
environmental issues
-
Hard worker with a
positive attitude
-
16 years of age or
older, or ability to obtain a work permit
-
Full or part-time
resident of one of the watershed towns listed above
Compensation:
$8.00 per hour
