Southern Maine Children's Water Festival
This one-day event occurs annually each May, drawing about 700 students from all over Southern Maine to learn
all about water. Fourth, fifth, and sixth
grade students from York, Cumberland, Androscoggin, Oxford, Franklin, Sagadahoc,
Lincoln, and Kennebec counties are eligible to attend. Click

This year's Festival
was held on Friday, May 21, 2010 at the Portland Campus of the
University of Southern Maine. Click

Application information was sent
out mid-December via email. Visit the
Maine DEP website
for application information.
The application
deadline was January 23, 2009.
Students attend classroom presentations, a stage show performed by
singer/songwriter
Matt Loosigian, "Dripial
Pursuit" competitions, and toured many exhibits in the exhibit hall.

The annual Droplets
publication is sent to all Festival attendees prior to the event.
Droplets provides an overview of the Festival, as well as
some activities and articles to prepare students for the day.
