Southern Maine Children's Water Festival
This one-day event occurs annually each May, drawing about 700 students from all over Southern Maine to learn
all about water. Fourth, fifth, and sixth
grade students from York, Cumberland, Androscoggin, Oxford, Franklin, Sagadahoc,
Lincoln, and Kennebec counties are eligible to attend. Click
here for a brochure with
information about Maine's Water Festivals.
This year's festival will be held on Friday, May 18, 2012 at the
University of Southern Maine's Portland campus. Application information
was sent mid-December via email. If you would like
to receive application information but have not by early January, please
contact
Sarah Plummer. Visit the
Maine DEP website
for additional information.
Students will attend
classroom presentations, a stage show performed by
Ferry
Beach Ecology School, "Dripial Pursuit" competitions, and
tour many exhibits in the exhibit hall.
