Purpose:
The purpose of this project is to significantly reduce soil erosion and polluted runoff sources to Highland Lake, foster long-term stewardship, and, ultimately, improve water quality.

This project offers free technical assistance to landowners, towns, and private road associations in order to address erosion problems.  The Casco Bay Youth Conservation Corps works in the watershed to install erosion controls during the summer. Financial assistance is also available to help cover the cost of improvements.

Phase III of the project is now underway.  The District and Highland Lake Association hosted a watershed community forum on September 12, 2009.  The goal of the forum was
to generate community action steps to prevent further declines in Highland Lake's water quality.
