The Facts:

  • There is no environmentally friendly way to dispose of pesticides   and herbicides.

  • They should NEVER be disposed of with household trash or poured down the sink, into stormdrains or into any waterbody.

  • Bring pesticides and herbicides to hazardous waste collections, either through the town or state.

  • These chemicals are then shipped out of state to other facilities where they will be incinerated, thereby releasing harmful chemicals into the atmosphere.

Think Before Buying:

  • Over 2.9 million pounds of yard care pesticides and herbicides were brought into Maine in 2004.

  • This number has tripled since 1995.

  • Do your part to reduce consumer demand for these products!
