Falmouth Middle School students explore Johnson Branch

The 6th grade classes from Falmouth Middle School walked to Johnson Branch to test the quality of the water. The Johnson Branch is directly behind the school and flows into the Piscataqua River. With the help of Rebecca Dugan from the Falmouth Land Trust and the District Educator from the CCSWCD, the students measured the chemistry of the water and searched for macroinvertebrates. The students were excited to find caddisfly larvae and dragonfly larvae living on the bottom of the stream.

This amazing program is funded by the Portland Water District and taught by the Cumberland County Soil & Water Conservation District.
