Our Organization
The Cumberland County Soil & Water Conservation District is a recognized and respected leader in natural resource conservation.
Established in 1946
The District was established in 1946 as part of a nationwide response to the Dust Bowl. As Cumberland County’s land uses have changed over time, the District has worked to meet the soil and water conservation needs of both its rural and urban landscapes.
Programs & Services
Today, the District focuses on educational programs and technical services that address the region’s soil and water conservation needs, including stormwater, agriculture, soil health, watershed management, and invasive species.
District Leadership
The District is governed by a Board of Supervisors. The Board is comprised of five Supervisors and additional Associate Supervisors who meet on the third Wednesday of each month. These officials identify conservation priorities and opportunities.
