Dig into Healthy Soils this Earth Day

Join us at Payson Park for the Portland Earth Day Celebration on Saturday, April 19 from 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM! The Cumberland County Soil & Water Conservation District will have a table with the Natural Resources Conservation Service that focuses on growing safely in urban soils. You can learn how to remediate soil contamination, gain knowledge of practices that build up healthy soil, and even take home your own soil test kit!

Featured activities include learning how to grow plants from seeds with Muddy Buddies, seeing soil erosion in action with our soda bottle demonstration, and going hands-on (literally!) in our soil texture analysis station.
