Bill Rust Retires from District Board

Bill’s love of conservation districts started in high school with a school project. After serving in the Army, Bill moved to Maine, started the Rusty Knoll dairy farm in Gorham, and join the District Board in 1966. Bill’s farming experience gave him a wealth of knowledge in the fields of soil conservation and agriculture which he applied to District programs and practices. In addition to being passionate about conservation practices, Bill also enjoys repairing old tractors, cars, and drinking the official Maine State Drink (Moxie).

We want to thank Bill for his steadfast dedication to the District these 55 years. When you visit our office, you’ll most likely be meeting with us in the newly dedicated “Bill Rust Conference Room”. We wish him a very happy retirement!
