Trickey Pond Water Quality Improvements

CCSWCD Senior Project Manager Heather Huntt and Project Engineer Chris Baldwin were out in the field this week assisting a private road association on Trickey Pond in Naples, Maine. Spanning 311 acres, Trickey Pond is a unique waterbody located between Sebago and Long Lakes. It has two outlets, one manmade and the other natural; both flow a short distance and empty into the Muddy River Bay of Sebago Lake.

Heather and Chris examined multiple sites and provided water quality improvement recommendations for the road association to consider, using funding from a current 319 Grant. The private road sites included culvert crossings and right-of-ways. The road association commissioner and road association president accompanied Heather and Chris to view the sites of concern, and the group collaborated on a plan to see if the proposed improvements qualify for grant funds.

The road association has already made excellent improvements on the road, including plantings and diverters.

The grant was funded by the EPA Clean Water Act and administered by the Maine Department of Environmental Protection.
