We wish Betty a happy retirement!

Betty McInnes began volunteering for the Cumberland County Soil & Water Conservation District in 1981. During the next two years she became familiar with the District’s services and its potential. In 1983 Betty was hired as the District Manager, where she spent over 38 years developing and implementing District programs and services. Her background in biological science and business management, along with her strong conservation ethic allowed her to cultivate the District through many transitions in the County’s development and conservation needs. Her many accomplishments through her 40 years of conservation service include: establishing the District’s classroom education program that now annually reaches over 1,000 students, creating the Interlocal Stormwater Working Group which has grown to support 14 municipalities and two college campuses, implementing numerous watershed protection grants throughout the County, and working with District technical staff to build the Urban Review program.

We want to thank Betty for her 40 years of conservation service and wish her all the best in her retirement. She will be missed!
