Buffer Blitz Workshop

The Highland Lake Association (HLA) is hosting a Buffer Blitz Workshop on June 13, 2019 from 5 – 7 pm at the Cornerstone Church (lower level) located on Cottage Road in Windham, Maine.  This workshop is open to the public and will provide information on how residents can improve their property and protect the lake with vegetated buffers. Vegetated buffers are a mix of plants, shrubs, and trees between your house and a water body that helps filter water as it leaves your property.

No matter where you live, stormwater from your property drains to a nearby body of water.  The HLA invites you to learn the best ways to improve the vegetated buffer on your property, particularly if you live on the shoreline of a lake or stream.

At this workshop, you will have the opportunity to interact with plant specialists, landscapers, town staff, and personnel from the DEP, Cumberland County Soil and Water Conservation District, and representatives from the HLA regarding the best ways that you can improve your property value and water quality by enhancing and upgrading your vegetated buffer.  Food and beverages will be provided, and the first 25 people in attendance will receive a door prize.
