The Cumberland County Soil and Water Conservation District is hiring a District Educator to support their classroom and adult education programs. The District Educator will work with the Education and Outreach Team to deliver lessons to K – 12 students in the classroom, outdoor classrooms or through field trips. The USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) has selected Luis Aponte as new District Conservationist for Cumberland and York Counties.

We’re excited to have Lucas serving with us as our Maine Conservation Corps/AmeriCorps Environmental Steward in 2022!

In working with the Town of Brunswick, Maine Department of Environmental Protection (Maine DEP), and at least a dozen additional interested organizations, Cumberland County Soil and Water Conservation District (District) assisted in completing a 10-year plan outlining actions needed to restore Mare Brook’s water quality. Mare Brook is located in Brunswick, ME and is currently listed as impaired due to poor macroinvertebrate sampling results and poor macroinvertebrate habitat.

Our office is closed on December 24 and December 31 and open by appointment from December 27 through December 30.
